With the project “Empower youth with media and information literacy”, Google.org provides tools to schools with specific challenges in terms of trust in society and lack of media and information literacy.

Source criticism and reliance in more parts of Sweden

Today, every other young person between 17 and 23 states that they do not feel part of society, according to a report by mucf. The annual survey from the SOM Institute at the University of Gothenburg also shows that trust gaps are increasing. The largest exclusion is in sparsely populated and vulnerable areas. This exclusion is linked to the opportunity to influence the world around you and to be able to make informed decisions about one’s own life, future and our common society.

With the project “Empower youth with media and information literacy”, Google.org provides tools to schools with specific challenges in terms of trust in society and lack of media and information literacy. The project is run by the non-profit organization Voice4you using the mobile stories publishing tool. In the project, 13,500 students in different locations in Sweden will have access to the tool over two years. Teachers and students receive support in implementation, support along the way, and education. On the map you can see which schools are participating.
