The association Voice4You, founded by journalists Jenny Sköld and Lotta Bergseth behind the publishing tool Mobile Stories, has been awarded development funding from Medier & Demokrati for the project idea TrustEd Future. The aim is to explore how schools and media can collaborate to strengthen young people’s trust in sources, engagement, and understanding of journalism through their own media production in the classroom.

The project will, in its first phase, map out needs and resources within schools and media, identify collaboration partners, and develop a plan for long-term financing. One goal is to contribute new research-based knowledge about young people’s media production in a Swedish context.

“We look forward to focusing on Sweden and deepening our understanding of how journalism in schools can contribute to a more resilient and democratic society,” say Jenny Sköld and Lotta Bergseth.

According to Martin Holmberg, program director at Medier & Demokrati, the project aligns well with the program’s focus and connects practice and research in a socially important field.
